Dwayne J. Paul, 90, passed away April 25, 2024, in Cheney Wash.

Dwayne was born Dec. 8, 1933, in Spokane Wash., to Leslie and Helen Paul. He was raised in the Deep Creek, Wash. area, graduating from Reardan High School in 1955.

After graduating Dwayne was drafted in the Army during the Korean Conflict. After serving, he returned to Cheney.

In 1957, Dwayne married Carol Halverson and they welcomed three children, Greg, Stacey and Lynn.

Dwayne retired from Spokane County Fire District No. 3 in 1991 after 25 years of service. He served for 28 years on the Cheney City Council. After retirement Dwayne volunteered at Deaconess Medical Center. He enjoyed time in his wood shop, Priest Lake and keeping track of his grandchildren's activities.

Dwayne is survived by his wife of 66 years Carol, son Greg and Cindy Paul, daughter Lynn and Nick Scharff, 10 grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren, and sister Donna Sitko. He was preceded in death by his daughter and son in law Stacey and Paul Lesser and sister Audrey Betz.

A memorial service will be held Monday, May 20th at 1:00 pm at Spokane County Fire District #3, 10 S Presley, Cheney Wash. Interment will be at Washington State Veterans Cemetery in a private family ceremony.

The family suggests memorial contributions be made the Firefighters Benevolent Fund C/O Spokane County Fire District #3.
