CHENEY — Dozens of candidates filed for offices up for grabs this year.

Those officially registering their candidacies during filing week, May 6-10, are:

Filing day also attracted candidates seeking to replace Congresswoman Cathy McMorris Rodgers, R-Spokane, who is retiring.

McMorris Rodgers is vacating the 5th Congressional District seat representing Eastern Washington, including Whitman, Spokane and eastern Adams and Franklin Counties, among others.

Five Democrats filed, including Carmela Conroy of Spokane, Bernadine Bank of Colbert, Matthew Welde of Liberty Lake, Bobbi Bennett-Wolcott of Pullman and Ann Marie Danimus of Spokane.

Six Republicans also filed, including Brian Dansel of Republic, Rick Valentine Flynn of Cheney, Jacquelin Maycumber of Republic, Jonathan D. Bingle of Spokane, Michael Baumgartner of Spokane and Rene Holaday of Addy.

Race for governor

The gubernatorial race also drew several candidates seeking to replace Gov. Jay Inslee, D-Bainbridge Island, who is not seeking reelection.

Republican candidates include Leoan A. Lawson of Aberdeen, A.L. Brown of Lacey, Jennifer Hoover of Spokane, Martin Lee Wheeler of Fall City, Jim Daniel of Goldendale and Bill Hirt of Bellevue.

Democrats vying for the office include Cassondra Magdalene Hanson of Spokane, Mark Mullet of Issaquah, Ricky Anthony of Tacoma, Chaytan Inman of Vancouver, Fred Grant of Shoreline, Don L. Rivers of Seattle, El’ona Kearney of Seattle, Edward Cale IV of Seattle and Robert “Bob” Ferguson of Seattle.

Nonpartisan gubernatorial candidates are Brian Bogen of Cle Elum, Semi Bird of Richland, Brad Mjelde of Covington, Jim Clark of Lake Stevens, Alan Makayev of Tacoma, Leon A. Lawson of Aberdeen, Michael DePaula of Seattle, Andre Stackhouse of Seattle, Alex Tsimerman of Bellevue, Rosetta Marshall-Williams of Maple Valley, Jeff Curry of Olympia, Frank Dare of Olympia and William Combs of Dayton.

In other filings:

Attorney General — Nick Brown, D-Seattle; Pete Serrano, R- Pasco; Nick Brown, D- Seattle; and Manka Dhingra, D-Redmond.

Auditor — Matt Hawkins, R-Spokane Valley; and Pat (Patrice) McCarthy, D-Seattle.

Commissioner of Public Lands — Sue Kuehl Pederson, R-Lakewood; Allen Lebovitz, D- Olympia; Dave Upthegrove, D-Seattle; Patrick DePoe, D-Seattle; Jaralee Anderson, D-Redmond; Kevin Van De Wege, D-Lake Sutherland; and Jaime Herrera Beutler of Battle Ground. Beutler, who prefers the Republican party, was repudiated by the party for voting to impeach President Trump.
