Man threatens to kill four family members

Suspect arrested with help from Air 1

SPOKANE VALLEY – Deputies responded to a domestic violence call involving a suspect threatening four victims with a handgun at 5:00 pm on April 26. After fleeing toward I-90, the suspect, Michael M. McCoy, was located by Air 1 Flight Crew during a scheduled patrol flight and safely apprehended with the assistance of ground units, including a K9 team.

According to the caller, McCoy was believed to be armed and had threatened to kill four family members, last seen sitting on the north side barrier wall of I-90.

The victims recounted arriving at the residence to find McCoy in the backyard, where he began shouting threats without provocation. They described McCoy as having a history of drug use and being particularly agitated during this encounter, at times gesturing towards his waistband as if armed. Despite their fears, no weapon was observed.

Deputies, having probable cause to arrest McCoy for harassment-threats to kill, commenced a search.

Citizens later reported sightings of a man matching McCoy’s description in the 9900 block of East Baldwin Avenue and Woodruff Road.

Air 1 guided deputies to McCoy’s location near I-90, where he was found near refuse and a semi-trailer. Following multiple commands and K9 warnings, McCoy was safely taken into custody without further incident.

McCoy was subsequently transported and booked into the Spokane County Jail on four counts of felony harassment-threats to kill (DV).
