CHENEY – Cheney police reported the following calls for service from April 22 – 28:

April 22

Cheney police department and Cheney fire department responded to the location of a deceased subject at 300 block of Erie St. Nothing suspicious was located at the scene. Case is open pending results from the Medical Examiner.

Cheney police department and Cheney fire department responded to the location of a deceased subject at 1700 block of 4th St. Deceased was released to a funeral home.

Fraud reported at 1000 block of 4th St., victim was defrauded out of $8,000 via a check scam.

Malicious mischief reported at 400 block of 1st St.; window was broken.

April 23

Fraud was reported as a referral from a hospital at 500 block of K St.

Malicious mischief reported at 1000 block of West 1st St.; suspect drilled into gas tank.

Theft was reported at 100 block of Betz Rd., two saws were stolen along with five gallons of gas from the victim’s truck.

Driver with suspended license reported at 2800 block of 1st St., contact initiated via traffic stop for speeding. Driver had a suspended license. Cited with a mandatory court appearance and several other traffic violations.

Operating a motor vehicle without a license was reported at 2000 block of 1st St., contact initiated via traffic stop for speeding. Driver did not possess a valid license and was cited with a mandatory court appearance and several other traffic violations.

April 25

Theft of a motor vehicle reported at 200 block of South Cheney—Spangle Rd.; black Dodge Durango was stolen from parking lot of apartment complex.

Driving with a suspended license reported at 600 block of Mike McKeehan Way.; contact initiated via traffic stop for speeding in a school zone. Driver had a suspended license and was cited with a mandatory court appearance and several other traffic violations.

Tyler Argo, 33, was arrested and booked into Spokane County Jail for third degree theft (shoplifting) and an outstanding warrant.

April 26

Cheney police department and Cheney fire department responded to a single vehicle collision to assist with the extrication of the trapped driver at the 230000 block of South Cheney—Spangle Rd.

Verbal dispute with no probable cause was reported at 1600 block of 1st St.

Verbal dispute with no probable cause was reported at 100 block of 2nd St.

April 27

Fourth degree assault reported at 200 block of North 11th St. The caller reported a burglary in progress at her residence. Upon officers hearing screaming they made entry into the apartment and located the caller inside. The subject had minor injuries and was treated at the scene. This case is being reviewed by the DV Unit.

Verbal dispute with no probable cause was reported at 200 block of Betz Rd.

Verbal dispute with no probable cause was reported at 2400 block of North 6th St.

Crisis reported at 1000 block of Betz Rd. Juvenile was placed into protective custody. Referral to West Plains Crisis Response Team was sent.

April 28

Sexual assault reported at 2400 block of University Ln.

Donald McGuffin, 54, was arrested and booked into Spokane County Jail for domestic violence at 100 block of Alki.

Verbal dispute with no probable cause was reported at 100 block of College Hill.

Crisis reported at 0 block of 2nd St. Subject called the West Plains Crisis Response Team and was placed into protective custody and transported to a local hospital.

Theft reported at 300 block of Erie St. Victim’s purse was stolen.

Theft reported at 300 block of 1st St. Female suspect stole a $185 glass bong. This is an active investigation.

Theft reported at 300 block of 1st St. Suspect was caught by owner of motorcycle attempting to take speakers off bike. Suspect fled the scene upon confrontation with the owner.

Theft reported at 700 block of 4th St. Victim’s bicycle was stolen.

Theft reported at 200 block of G St. Electric scooter was stolen from front porch.

Two suspects, Noah Patton and Kenneth Browning, were arrested for shoplifting over $300 worth of merchandise at 2200 block of 1st St.
