Desert 100 kids race results reported

IRBY — Two aspiring racers were among the field competing in Stumpjumpers Desert 100 races over the April 5-7 weekend.

Competing in the 8 and younger division, Abby Baldwin of Airway Heights finished 22nd Saturday. And from Medical Lake, Zachary Vieman finished 41st.

Official adult results were not available by press time, as race coordiantors reported more than 1,000 competitors.

Kingdom wrestlers win awards

SPOKANE — The Airway Heights Kingdom Wrestling club had five grapplers place in the annual Jason Crawford Memorial Tournament on Saturday, March 30, in Spokane Veterans Memorial Arena.

The tournament, considered as the “state” event for young wrestlers ages 5-14, attracted more than 2,100 competitors.

Kingdom Wrestling was led by Ke’Vahn McDuffie-Moro, who took first place in the boys ages 5/6 division at 44-46 pounds.

Other placers from Airway Heights include:

Second-place — Micah Kasper, boys 7/8, 47-48 pounds; and Bo Mayo, 13/14, 101-105 pounds

Third-place — Waylon Walter, 5/6, 53 pounds; Malakai Kasper, 9/10, 56-58 pounds.
