Disorderly suspect impedes traffic

Man runs from deputies

SPOKANE VALLEY – On April 8, 2024, Spokane Valley Deputies swiftly responded to a report of a disorderly individual causing chaos near the intersection of N. Argonne and E. Knox. The incident escalated as the suspect, later identified as 49-year-old Jason L. Allen, exhibited erratic behavior and disregarded traffic safety, leading to his arrest for various charges, including drug possession.

Deputies arrived on the scene around 6:40 am to find Allen yelling at passing vehicles, displaying signs of possible intoxication or substance influence. Despite attempts to engage with him for his welfare, Allen refused dialogue and evaded interaction with law enforcement.

As the situation unfolded, Allen’s actions became increasingly hazardous. Ignoring traffic regulations, he traversed the lanes of N. Argonne without utilizing the nearby crosswalk, prompting drivers to abruptly halt to avoid collisions. Efforts by deputies to intervene were met with resistance as Allen repeatedly entered traffic, endangering both himself and motorists.

In response to the escalating risk, deputies activated emergency lights and initiated pursuit. Despite warnings and commands to cease his flight, Allen persisted, attempting to flee into oncoming traffic. Subsequently, he was apprehended without further incident, albeit sustaining minor injuries during the arrest.

A subsequent search uncovered incriminating evidence, including a pocketknife, suspected methamphetamine, and pills believed to contain fentanyl. Further investigation revealed Allen to be wanted on misdemeanor warrants related to reckless driving and drug offenses.

Jason L. Allen was subsequently booked into Spokane County Jail on charges of disorderly conduct, obstructing law enforcement, drug possession, and the existing warrants.
