SPOKANE -- Cheney wrestlers started off strong by winning the first seven of eight weight classes and cruised to 64-11 Greater Spokane League win at North Central, Jan. 10.
Juan Tercero (113 pounds) and Aiden Carr (120) both won by pins and Alex Kurakin (106) had a forfeit in that starting streak.
Camron Bogle (132) and Kaden Rasmussen (138) also pinned their opponents to start the second run of four victories.
Mason Bennett (144) and Jacob Estock (150) also won by forfeits to start a third streak before Trenton Moore (175) collected a major decision and Gauge Seubert (190) pinned his opponent.
Macade Munro of Cheney won by forfeit at 175, while Chazz Gray (285) capped things with a pin in just 46 seconds.
Cheney improved to 4-2 in GSL competition. The Blackhawks hosted defending state champion Mead, Jan. 17 and Ferris Jan. 18 at 7 p.m.
Moore also won his 175-pound weight at the Ray Westberg Invite in Ellensburg last Saturday. Shadrach Mason was third at 150.
Cheney finished eighth out of 21 teams with 115 points behind team champ Hermiston, Oregon, 201 points.
"It was a tough tournament and best competition we have seen since Tri State in December," head coach Brian Skaff wrote in an email. "It's getting us ready for post season. We are starting to peak at a team and individually," he added.
Moore also won his 175-pound weight at the Ray Westberg Invite in Ellensburg last Saturday.
