Three Cheney girls also reach podium
RICHLAND – With flu affecting the Liberty girls wrestling team, only Kariay Stobel made the trip to the Varsity Girls Winter Cup at Hanford High School.
Wrestling at 140 pounds, she made the most of the trip, winning the gold medal and a pair of Winter Cup shorts.

She pinned Marlen Eiaz of Tonasket in 43 seconds to open the tournament. She then pinned Emma Beltran of Sunnyside in 54 seconds to reach the semifinals.
Strobel pinned Victoria Garcia of Wapato in 53 seconds to reach the finals.
