Spokane Valley- Deputies P. Nelson and C. Horton stopped a woman from trying to take her life in the back of a van.
The woman’s friend reported her as seeming depressed and worried for her well-being thinking she might try and take her own life.
Deputy Nelson was on the phone with the caller and began identifying the person in crisis location or possible address. With Deputy Horton assisting they found a possible location.
Both Deputies saw a van and after checking the license plate, realizing it was the woman’s van they immediately approached.
Noting it was running with all windows up and was foggy inside. The Deputies saw a device from the passenger side compartment redirecting the exhaust gasses into the van.
Deputies were unsuccessful on locating the woman or get a response from the car.
Based off of reports from the caller, deputies believe the woman had the intent to harm herself.
When Deputies opened the door exhaust fumes poured out, they were able to locate the women under a blanket in the back.
They were able to safely pull her out of the deadly situation, saving her life. Spokane Valley fire and AMR responded to the scene and provided medical attention to the woman. She was transported to the hospital for additional treatment that was well needed.
