Johnson named Co-Defensive Player of Week

CHENEY — Eastern Washington defensive end Da’Marcus Johnson was named Big Sky Co-Defensive Player of the Week on Nov. 6.

Johnson made the first of several game-changing defensive plays for the Eagles on Saturday against the Cal Poly Mustangs, sacking quarterback Sam Huard and stripping the ball to secure the one of three Eastern takeaways in their 48-13 win.

The Fresno State transfer added another forced fumble late in the game, tacking on 5 tackles and a quarterback hurry.

TENNIS:

Kammerer, Dillon earn doubles win

SPOKANE — The fall competitions are done for Eastern Washington men’s tennis after the team completed the Gonzaga Invite this weekend (Nov. 3-5).

The Eagles closed their schedule with one of its pairs winning the doubles group.

Drew Dillon and Caden Kammerer partnered for the weekend and earned the Huckleberry Doubles Group 1 with two wins.

VOLLEYBALL:

Eagles drop road finale against Vikings

PORTLAND — In the final regular season road game of the season, Eastern Washington volleyball lost to Portland State 3-0 on Nov. 5.

Sage Brustad led EWU with nine kills and Bri Gunderson had eight in the game at PSU.

The Eagles lost to Sacramento State Nov. 2, 3-1 to start the trip. Makenna Collins led the team with 19 digs.

Eastern falls to 4-9 in the Big Sky and 10-15 overall. The Eagles will begin their final home stand of the season with Northern Arizona on Nov. 9 at 6 p.m. The Eagles then host Northern Colorado on Nov. 11 at 2 p.m.
