Sprague looks to pass EMS levy

SPRAGUE—Voters within city limits will be seeing an EMS levy for approval or denial on their ballots in this year’s general election.

City clerk Heather Krauter said the regular six-year levy is identical to that which was passed six years ago but is expiring at the end of 2023.

Residents would be taxed 50 cents per $1,000 of property valuation for six years, beginning in 2024. That’s the same rate as the levy passed in 2017.

“They didn’t want anything to change,” Krauter said.

Elections deputy Norm Caley said the measure will only go before city residents, as Fire District No. 1 passed its levy in last year’s general election cycle.

The levy funds emergency medical services.
