SPOKANE VALLEY – In a high-stakes operation, Spokane Valley Deputies successfully apprehended a wanted suspect with a history of armed offenses and uncooperative behavior. The suspect, identified as 43-year-old Donald E. Weber, was the subject of multiple felony warrants, including Assault 2nd Degree charges, a Department of Corrections warrant, and a DUI misdemeanor warrant.
The tense standoff unfolded on the afternoon of October 22, 2023, when law enforcement became aware of Weber’s presence at his residence in the 1500 block of N. Vista Road. Several deputies rapidly responded to the location and set up a perimeter around the property.
Inside the residence, they encountered individuals who were hesitant to confirm whether Weber was present. Refusing entry, they set the stage for a standoff.
In a show of determination, deputies positioned their vehicles around the property, activated emergency lights, and used their vehicle’s PA systems to give commands, informing Weber that he was under arrest and urging him to surrender peacefully. Simultaneously, efforts were initiated to secure a search warrant for the residence, in case it was needed.
At around 4:55 pm, Weber emerged from an open door at the back of the residence. Law enforcement officers immediately informed him of his arrest and the necessity to surrender. Weber, however, cited a “federal indictment” as his reason for not exiting the residence, raising concerns about the situation.
Recognizing Weber’s refusal to comply and his past history of armed confrontations, the Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT) team was called to the scene to assist.
The tension escalated as the standoff continued, but at approximately 5:20 pm, Weber decided to exit the front door of the residence. He began following the deputies’ commands and was taken into custody without incident. The SWAT team, which had been on standby, was subsequently canceled.
Weber, a convicted felon with a prior record of 1st Degree Robbery in 1999, was taken into custody on his outstanding warrants and was further charged with Resisting Arrest. His bond was set at $1,500 on old charges of Assault 2nd Degree and 16 counts of Unlawful Possession of a Firearm 1st Degree by Spokane County Superior Court Judge R. Clary. On the new charge of Resisting Arrest and old charges of Driving While Suspended 3rd Degree, DUI, and Operating a Vehicle without an Interlock Device, his bond was set at $1,500 by Spokane County District Court Judge J. Fassbender.
Weber also remains in custody on a Washington State Department of Corrections Hold, pending further legal proceedings.
