Cheney house draws crowd

For the past 15 years, Steve Grime (pronounced Grim) has been turning his humble home on 2217 Marrigold Circle, Cheney into a spine-chilling spectacle that leaves the neighborhood in awe. From basic decorations to elaborate, eerie displays, his journey into Halloween decor has been nothing short of extraordinary. Grime's Halloween decorating journey began years ago when he decided to take his love for the holiday to the next level. Starting with basic decorations, he gradually honed his skills and creativity, evolving into the master of Halloween decor that he is today. His commitment to this yearly endeavor is nothing short of impressive.

Steve Grime revealed that he's had a little help along the way. A friend from Oklahoma, a fellow Halloween enthusiast, has been providing him with invaluable tips and inspiration. This exchange of ideas has allowed Steve to take his Halloween decorations to new heights.

Steve Grime's motivation to transform his house into a Halloween wonderland is rooted in his love for the holiday and his community.

What sets him apart is the staggering number of trick-or-treaters he welcomes each year-approximately 2,000 of them! He's also joined by numerous neighbors who volunteer to help set up and manage the annual Halloween extravaganza.

Grime explained that his greatest reward is seeing the sheer delight on the faces of children and adults alike. When asked why he decorates so elaborately, he responded with a simple truth:

"I love to see the kids' jaws drop when I do these things." The reactions from visitors, especially children, inspire him to keep pushing the boundaries of his Halloween creativity.

Grime emphasized the positive impact on his community. While the haunted displays might initially induce a few shivers, they ultimately bring happiness and joy to all who visit.

Grimes believes that, in the end, the little ones who initially feel scared will overcome their fears and have an abundance of fun.

In the words of Steve Grime, "It brings happiness and joy to the community. They might get a little scared at first, but they will end up loving it.

The little kids will get through that initial scare and end up having a lot of fun." He recognizes that his decorations provide a much-needed source of entertainment and excitement in a world where fun can sometimes be in short supply.
