LIBERTY LAKE - The splash pads at Pavillion Park and Orchard Park were closed for the season on Oct. 9.

Restrooms at Liberty Lake’s city parks will close for the season on Monday, Oct. 23.

LIBERTY LAKE - Liberty Lake City Council approved a proclamation on Sept. 19 declaring Oct. 8-14 as Fire Prevention Week in the city of Liberty Lake.

The Spokane Valley Fire Department reports that the proclamation creates an annual opportunity for communities to focus attention on a specific fire prevention message.

The focus for the 2023 Fire Prevention Week is on halting cooking fires and injuries while cooking -- the most common cause of fires in homes.

SPOKANE VALLEY – City crews will begin winterizing parks around the city on Oct. 16. Restroom facilities will be closing, and water fountains will be shut off.

Park hours are also changing as the daylight hours change. Parks will be open from 6:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. from Oct. 16 to April 14.

Reservations for park shelters will begin again on Jan. 1, and shelters and sports fields will be available to reserve for dates between April 15 and Oct. 15.
