High schools celebrating homecoming

CHENEY – One thing that always follows the onset of fall is that area high schools celebrate their homecoming festivities.

Cheney High School has already started its celebration; students have been celebrating with hall decorations and several dress-up days through the week.

General homecoming royalty will be announced Friday, Oct. 6, during the pep rally.

Winners of the royalty court will be announced during halftime of the homecoming football game against Ridgeline on Friday night, according to Leadership Advisor Jenna Tamura.

The homecoming dance is set for Saturday night, Oct. 7.

Medical Lake

Medical Lake is hosting its homecoming the following week, and it starts with the hallway decoration beginning this Friday, Oct. 6.

That evening, students will gather at the kickoff assembly where the royal court will be announced.

Wednesday, Oct. 11 will bring the class competition volleyball game at 5:30 p.m., followed by an outdoor movie on the football field.

Classes will gather Thursday, Oct. 12 for the final assembly, where there will be a dancing and lip-syncing competition, and the winning class will be crowned.

Medical Lake will host Lakeside (Nine Mile Falls) in the Homecoming game Friday, Oct. 13, and royalty will be announced.

The Cardinals Homecoming dance will be at 7 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 14.

Small schools

To the south, St. John-Endicott/LaCrosse will be celebrating homecoming next week, as well.

The homecoming football game will take place Friday, Oct. 13, with the semiformal dance on Saturday, Oct. 14.

Several Eagle football players asked volleyball players to the big dance following the girls' 3-0 sweep of Tekoa-Rosalia on Friday, Sept. 28.

Tekoa and Rosalia, too, will celebrate their Homecomings next week, with the Homecoming football game on Friday, Oct. 13,in Rosalia, and dance Saturday, Oct. 14.

The annual Homecoming parade will take place Wednesday night, Oct. 11, and Tekoa will follow up with a bonfire Thursday, Oct. 12.

Both the Rosalia and Tekoa royalty will be crowed during halftime of the Friday night game against league rival Pomeroy.

Liberty High School will host its homecoming celebrations the following week. The Lancers kick off their activities Oct. 16.

According to Principal Aaron Fletcher, they are having some low-key celebrations.

Fletcher said there a few activities through the week, but the homecoming football game will be played Friday, Oct. 20.

Royalty will be announced and presented at halftime.
