PULLMAN – The Cheney girls volleyball team struggled to keep up with the Pullman Greyhounds in a non-league match Sept. 7.
The Greyhounds swept the Blackhawks, 3-0.
Set scores were 25-18, 25-20, 25-15.
The loss followed a season-opening win Sept. 5 at Clarkson.
There, the Blackhawks downed the Bantams, 3-2.
Clarkston won the first set 25-20, and the third set, 25-21. But Cheney won Sets 2,4 and 5, with scores of 25-18, 25-9 and 18-16, respectively.
Since those opening games, the Blackhawks have gone 1-1, sweeping West Valley (Spoakne Valley), 3-0, on Sept. 12, but falling to Shadle Park, 3-2, on Sept. 14.
Against West Valley, Cheney won 25-21, 25-20, 25-20.
Against Shadle Park, Cheney won the first and fourth sets, but lost the second, third and fifth. Set scores were 25-16, 24-26, 21-25, 29-27, 11-15.
Individual statistics have not been reported.
Cheney (2-2) was scheduled to play Central Valley (0-4) on Tuesday night,, Sept. 19. The score was not reported prior to press time.
Tonight, Thursday, Sept. 21, the Blackhawks are scheduled to host North Central (2-2) at 7 p.m.
