One man killed in rollover near Rockford

ROCKFORD - A man was killed in a crash near Rockford on Sunday evening, September 10.

Jackie Thompson, 60, of Spokane Valley, was pronounced dead at around 12:03 p.m. on State Route 278. He was found dead at the scene according to Washington State Patrol.

The next of kin has been notified.

According to the Washington State Patrol, Jackie crossed both lanes of traffic in his brown 2004 Ford F150 into a ditch through a barbed wire fence, rolled, and was ejected.

Jackie was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash, according to Trooper Derek J. Watkins.

The cause of the crash was crossing the center line, according to authorities. It is unknown whether or not the driver was driving under the influence.

The crash occurred at milepost 3 on State Route 278, 3 miles east of Rockford.
