CHENEY — A domestic violence suspect was arrested for felony/misdemeanor warrants, protection order violation, and possession of a stolen firearm on Aug. 23.
On the morning of Aug. 23, officers reported to the 1000 Block of Betz Rd. The reporting party advised that her ex-boyfriend Jhea Whitney, 37, was at the location in his truck armed with a firearm, according to a police press release.
Dispatch advised officers that Whitney had a felony warrant from Spokane Superior Court and a misdemeanor warrant from Cheney Municipal Court, reports said.
Additionally, it was advised there was a domestic violence no-contact order between Whitney and the reporting party, reports said.
Officers Sauve and Deines observed that Whitney, the sole occupant of the vehicle, exit the truck described by the victim, reports said.
Officers apprehended him, and through a window of the truck they observed a black handgun sticking out of an open backpack on the passenger seat, reports said.
The vehicle was seized as a search warrant was authored. Upon execution of the warrant, a stolen Springfield semi-automatic handgun with a loaded magazine was recovered, reports said.
It should be noted that Whitney is a convicted felon and is unable to possess firearms.
Whitney was transported and booked into the Spokane County Jail for possession of a stolen firearm, unlawful possession of a firearm, and violation of a no-contact order, reports said.
Whitney is not currently listed as an inmate of Spokane County Jail.
