SPOKANE – Teck American Incorporated, a subsidiary of Teck Resources Limited (Teck) has donated $20,000 to local organizations supporting emergency wildfire responses in eastern Washington.
The money was given to two groups in the region.
The Greater Inland Northwest Chapter of the American Red Cross, Spokane received $15,000 and Second Harvest Inland Northwest was awarded $5,000.
“We’re so thankful for Teck’s generous donation,” said Lacie Clark, executive director of the American Red Cross Greater Inland Northwest Chapter. “This donation will enable us to prepare for, respond and support families affected by disasters like wildfires and countless other crises across the Inland Northwest.”
Teck has donated more than $210,000 to organizations supporting emergency wildfire responses in British Columbia, the Northwest Territories, and Alberta in addition to providing equipment, goods, and other assistance to help battle wildfires this season.
The partnerships created here will help fund recovery and rebuilding efforts in eastern Washington.
“The journey to recovery from these fires' devastation will be lengthy, but compassionate supporters like you make it possible to not only provide food but also instill a sense of hope within our community,” stated Conor Ellert, philanthropy manager at Second Harvest Inland Northwest. “Teck’s generosity extends far beyond the immediate aid, resonating in the hearts of those you've assisted and inspiring unity and resilience in the face of adversity.”
Teck emergency response teams are also working closely with municipal and provincial emergency responders to help suppress fires within Teck’s operating areas as needed.
Teck also provides matching donations made by our employees to community organizations of their choice through the Team Teck Community Giving Program.
This ensures further support in local communities where our employees and their families are working to ensure their own safety and that of their friends and neighbors.
Teck American Incorporated’s vice president and general counsel Tacy Gillespie stated, “It is a part of who we are as a company to support communities where we live and work, and we recognize that providing support to organizations on the front lines of wildfire relief is the most important thing we can do right now.”
