Temperatures to remain in 80s next week
SPOKANE VALLEY – An excessive heat warning was expected to expire at 11 p.m. Thursday night, Aug. 17, after several days of 100-plus degree temperatures.
Meanwhile, a fire weather watch came and went overnight Wednesday and early Thursday.
No records were set during this week’s heat wave.
A red flag warning was also issued for Spokane Valley and Liberty Lake through 9 p.m. Friday, Aug. 18. Red flag warnings mean weather is conducive to possible wildfire growth.
An air quality alert remains in effect through the weekend.
According to Accuweather, a Felts Field weather monitoring state here recorded a high temperature this week of 105 degrees on Tuesday.
The temperature also reached a daytime high of 102 on Wednesday and Thursday, Accuweather reported.
The weather was expected to cool throughout the weekend, with area temperatures predicted to decline to the low-80s by Monday.
Overnight lows are expected to dip into the mid- to upper-50s next week, helping to keep the area cool during the day.
Residents can expect temperatures to remain in the low- to mid-80s over the next two weeks, Accuweather reported.
