Gerry Lynn Holdway

Gerry Lynn Holdway beloved daughter, sister, wife, mother, and grandmother went to be with the Lord on Aug. 3rd, 2023 after battling cancer. She was born to Thomas Simonton and Mary Jean Bell in Pendleton, Ore. on Feb. 27, 1947. She married Doyle Max Holdway of Springfield, Missouri on Feb. 19, 1965. They moved their family to Spokane, Wash. in 1978 and lived on the South Hill until their retirement.

In 2005, they moved to Medical Lake, Wash., where they built a new home. Gerry was a hairdresser by trade and a small business owner. She was a devout Christian and was strong in her faith, influencing and encouraging her friends and family to follow the Lord. Some of Gerry's favorite things to do included; thrift shopping with her grandchildren, sewing dolls and doll clothes, baking cookies and pineapple muffins, gardening, and canning.

Gerry's examples of generosity, love, and kindness continue to impact all who were blessed to know her. She is survived by her mother, Mary Jean Spurgeon, her sister Jan Patton, her brothers Rick and Ross Simonton, her husband Doyle Holdway, her daughter and son-in-law Tracy and Kevin Mortenson, her son and daughter-in-law Jim and Rosie Holdway, her son and daughter-in-law Jon and Melisa Holdway, and her seven grandchildren; Steven Rishew, Madison Holdway, Hannah Holdway, Kelsey Mortenson, Jonathan Holdway, Hunter Holdway, and Hayden Holdway.

There was nothing more important to Gerry than her family, and we are comforted knowing she waits for us in heaven absent from the body and present with the Lord. Memorial service to be held on Aug. 27, 2023 at 2:00 pm at Hayford Community Church 5306 S Hayford Rd. Spokane, WA 99224. Condolences may be sent to the family through Cheney Funeral Chapel.
