Wheat harvests are in full swing in the region as tractors can be seen rolling along the hills.
Washington is the third leading state in terms of wheat production putting out 144 million bushels last year according to the Washington Grain Commission.
That number was a 65 percent increase from the previous year.
The average in for winter wheat was 68 bushels per acre, and the spring yield was 46 bushels per acre according to the United States Dept. of Agriculture.
Conditions have this years forecast sitting at 99.2 millions bushels, which is up from last month, but down 19 percent from last year.
Harvested area statistics show the state is down 60,000 acres from last year, and the yield is expected to be 57 bushels per acre.
Washington spring wheat production is forecast to be at 22 million bushels which is a two percent increase from last year. The total harvested area is 440,000 which is down 30,000 acres. The expected yield is 50 bushels per acre which is an increase of four bushels per acre compared to last year.
