Two unrelated fatal crashes reported
FOUR LAKES – An Interstate 90 crash Monday evening, Aug. 7, has left an Idaho woman dead.
Suzanne M. Twete, 77, of Post Falls, Idaho, was killed in the 5:30 p.m. crash near Milepost 268 south of Four Lakes.
According to the Washington State Patrol, Twete was a passenger in a 2021 Toyota Rav4 being driven by Tamra Callaway, 53, of Lake Stevens.
Callaway was injured in the crash; her condition was not reported.
Callaway’s vehicle was westbound in the passing lane of the highway when it veered into the median, the patrol reported. The driver overcorrected and the Toyota crossed the westbound lanes and overturned on the shoulder.
Neither drugs nor alcohol was a factor in the crash, the patrol reported.
The cause of the crash was “wheels left roadway,” the patrol reported. The vehicle was towed from the crash scene by North Inland Towing.
The crash was one of two fatal incidents on rural Eastern Washington highways Monday.
In an unrelated crash at 12:42 p.m. on state Highway 17, about 3 miles north of Mesa, a five-vehicle crash left one person dead.
Jesus Camacho-Augustine, 21, of Othello, was killed in that crash, the Washington State Patrol reported.
The cause remains under investigation.
