SPOKANE VALLEY – After the first day of counting ballots in the Aug. 1 primary election, a local woman tops the race for the West Valley School District Director No. 3 position.
Amy Anselmo logged 1,380 votes, 55.67%, in the first night of counting. She’s ahead of John Dubois with 635 votes, 25.62%, and Tricia Phillips with 432 votes, 17.43%.
Anselmo couldn’t be reached for comment.
But DuBois said he’s excited about being No. 2 at this point in the election process; only the Top 2 qualify for the Nov. 7 general election.
“I am excited. It looks like we’ll have a chance to be a school board member,” DuBois said. “I have been working on my trailer so, I didn’t want to stay glued to the results.
“But I am pleased so far.”
Phillips could not be reached for comment.
The election will be certified Aug. 15.
