Medical Lake School Board

Early election results coming through

The Medical Lake School District has several contested seats as well.

Gerri Johnson is leading the race with 49.51% for District Director 1, Lennelle Spillman is currently in second place with a slight lead over Bryan Musser.

Johnson said she feels confident, leading by over 20 percent.

“I’m feeling good and I’m excited,” Johnson said. “I am glad to have the support of the community. It’s been years of relationship building that has gone into earning their trust.”

Spillman said she is feeling pretty good, but is confident she will move on to the general election.

“Gerri is very well known around town,” Spillman said. “So, I’m not surprised she took an early lead, so it comes down to the race between myself and Bryan Musser.”

The district 2 seat is hotly contested this election cycle with six candidates in the running.

Michael Gerry has an early lead established, with 28.75% of voters favoring him.

“This whole experience is kind of new to me,” Gerry said. “This is my first time running for a seat, and I want to earn the trust of the community to help the kids in our district.”

Alexis Alexander currently holds the second spot with 24.07%.

Wayne Terry sits in third with 16.34% and said he’s far enough behind that he is a bit worried but isn’t giving up.

“I just don’t think the people in the voting district are ready for a conservative Irishman,” Terry said.

Laura Elliot Parsons is currently leading the race for the district 3 position holding on to 36.27% of the votes so far.

“I am thankful for the community of Medical Lake to continue trusting me in this position,” Elliot-Parsons said. “I am confident I will move on to the general election in November.”

Dennis Schilling sits in second, carrying 33.03% of the current votes. He said he is confident he will move on to the general election as well.

“I was pleasantly surprised when I got home and checked the results,” Schilling said. “I am excited because it looks like I will be moving forward and can influence some change.”

Ron Cooper has a sizeable lead on the competition for the seat overseeing district 4, holding 33.89% of the early votes.
