SPOKANE VALLEY - Spokane Valley Investigative Unit (SVIU) Detectives, arrested Steven R. South Jr. on the 200 block of East. Everett Street on July 13 with the assistance of the SWAT Team.

South, 37, was safely taken into custody and booked into the Spokane County Jail for six counts of first-degree unlawful possession of firearms, and two counts of possession of a controlled substance with intent to sell or distribute. He is now in the Spokane County Jail with a bond set at $2,500.

South was originally bonded out of jail in November of 2022, but investigators found probable cause to charge him additional crimes.

On November 20, 2022, at approximately 7:05 am, Spokane Valley Deputy D. Spiewak responded to a report of a suspicious person in a running car in the carwash bay in the 2100 block of North Argonne Road.

The driver, later identified as South, was contacted by the police and, upon waking in his vehicle, reached for a weapon under his seat.

After a brief standoff with police, South was safely detained and booked into the Spokane County Jail on three counts of unlawful possession of a firearm, two counts of possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver, and carrying firearms.

He bonded out of jail the following day after Spokane County Superior Court Commissioner J. Stine set his bond at $2,500.
