Fire levy lid lift sought

CHENEY — Fire District No. 3 is asking voters to support a levy lid lift in the Aug. 1 election.

Voters are asked to support a levy of $1.50 for every $1,000 of assessed property value.

The levy is currently at $1.22, the lowest amount in a decade, officials said, noting it is primary funding source for all Fire District No. 3 operations and equipment.

Some of the agency’s emergency response vehicles and other equipment are more than 25 years old becoming costly to maintain, official said, justifying the request.
