Police get warrant, find man dead in home

SPOKANE VALLEY – A man suspected of sexual assault of a child was found dead in his residence in the 2000 block of N. Long Road after police tried contacting him at 7:30 p.m. on July 6.

According to a Spokane County Sheriff’s press release deputies arrived at the residence on Long Rd. at the request of Stevens County Detectives.

The were looking for a suspect who was wanted for child sexual assault, who was believed to be in the residence.  

A short time later, deputies heard what they believed was a single gunshot according to reports.  

Records show that due to the nature of the charges and a possible weapon involved, SWAT, EDU, Crisis Negotiators, and Spokane Regional Air Support Unit assets were also called in.

A search warrant for the residence was requested and obtained after multiple unsuccessful attempts to contact the suspect.

According to reports an unmanned drone was used to enter the residence and locate the suspect, who was motionless.  

SWAT Team members then entered, and records show the man was found dead from what appeared to be a gunshot wound.  

The Spokane County Medical Examiner’s Office will release the name of the decedent, along with the official cause and manner of death, when appropriate.
