Red, White & BBQ Eagle Kickoff coming in August

CHENEY, Wash. — Enjoy an evening with EWU Athletics staff and support our Eagle student-athletes on Friday, Aug. 25. Attendees will have the opportunity to meet new Director of Athletics Tim Collins, take a tour of our facilities, and will get to hear directly from EWU coaches as they discuss the current and future sports seasons of 2023-24 live with Larry Weir.

Schedule of Events:

4:30-6 p.m. Social, Silent-Auction & Facility Tours

Enjoy hors d’oeuvres in the Phase, meet and greets with coaches and student-athletes, and get tours of the new nutrition center, athletic training center, and the newly updated football locker room.

6 p.m. Dinner: Enjoy a catered dinner in Reese Court with BBQ style dinner includes grilled chicken, roasted beef tri-tip, macaroni and cheese, roasted red potatoes, tossed salad, coleslaw, dinner rolls. and dessert.

7:15 p.m. Main Event & Paddle Raise: Dave Spencer and Larry Weir will take you through a roundtable interview session with EWU coaches and then into our main fundraising event to raise funds to support EWU student-athletes & facilities.

Table of 8 / $1,000: Purchase your table of eight (8) which includes supporting an EWU coach and student-athlete who will join your group for the night (eight guest seats, plus 1-2 additional seats for a coach & student-athlete).

Individual Tickets TBA: Full table sales will be on a first-come-first-serve basis. If we have the ability to open up tickets for individual admission we will, but we anticipate this event to sell out based on full-table purchases.

Eagles extend 3.0 GPA streak to 48 quarters 

CHENEY, Wash. — After another successful spring in the classroom, Eastern Washington athletics earned a department average GPA over 3.0 for the 48th consecutive quarter. EWU posted a combined GPA of 3.29 with 261 student-athletes contributing.

Eastern had 10 of 12 of its programs record a GPA over 3.0 for the spring quarter, led by women’s golf with a 3.74. Men’s tennis earned a 3.33 GPA for the top performing men’s program. 

Individually this quarter, 48 student-athletes earned a 4.0 GPA and 123 earned spots on the Dean’s List. Women’s track and field had 15 student-athletes earn a 4.0 during the spring to lead all programs. Football was the top performer on the men’s side with 11 perfect marks.

The sustained success of EWU athletics started 16 years ago in the fall quarter of 2007, marking the beginning of “The Streak”.
