Police chief to hold public forum

Mayor Grover and others to attend

CHENEY — Interim Police Chief Rick Beghtol will hold a public forum at the Wren Pierson Center on July 12 between 6 and 7 p.m.

“We are going to give a statement about what the department is doing and the changes we’ve gone through; what led up to those changes, etc. I want to address questions about certain things the public may be interested in,” Beghtol said.

Beghtol said that he wants to clear up certain rumors and give the public a chance to reconnect with the department, hopefully to reestablish a clear line of communication.

“I’ve received letters and comments from the public that indicate to me that this forum would be beneficial,” Beghtol said.

Beghtol said that he can’t discuss certain things, such as ongoing internal investigations, but he hopes that the public will appreciate being able to engage, one-on-one, with the police.

Mayor Chris Grover, members of the police department, and other city officials had been invited but remain unconfirmed as attendees as of the time of this publication.
