WEST PLAINS - Sale of consumer fireworks began on Wednesday, June 28, 2023, and ends on Wednesday, July 5 9:00 p.m.
A state license is required, along with a local permit, to operate a fireworks stand in Washington. The Washington State Fire Marshal's Office issued licenses for 552 retail fireworks stands in 2023; this number is up slightly from 2022 with a total of 541.
The SFMO encourages those who purchase fireworks this year to enjoy them safely and responsibly.
A number of cities and counties have restricted or banned the sale and discharge of fireworks, while others have modified the type of fireworks that can be purchased.
Cheney
No plans for fireworks.
"We have a city ordinance, Chapter 18 of our Municipal Code, and it states that fireworks are illegal, and no resident without a permit can ignite, discharge, use or explode in the city limits; and we have taken a strong stance against fireworks." Cheney Fire Chief Tom Jenkins said. "To my knowledge, no fireworks permits have yet been issued to anyone in the city," he concluded.
Medical Lake
MEDICAL LAKE - TNT Fireworks and J&M LLC. Were issued permits by the city and Fire District 3.
"What we do is essentially increase staffing. We support the responsible celebration of Independence Day. We want people to be cautious as always," Chief Cody Rohrbach, said.
At time of publication, information regarding the time and location of public fireworks displays had not been procured.
Airway Heights
Music and fireworks will offer a patriotic, family-friendly way to celebrate Independence Day on Tuesday, July 4.
Northern Quest Casino, 100 N. Hayford Road, festivities kick off at 4 p.m. with free children's activities, a bouncy houses, music, Cornhole and entertainers.
There is an admission charge.
There will also be a variety of food trucks available.
At 9:30 p.m. the celebration continues with a video salute to Kalispel tribal members and tribal employees who have served in the U.S. armed forces.
The National Anthem will be performed in Salish by special guest and Kalispel descendant EmmaRose Sullivan.
Fireworks are scheduled to start at 10 p.m.
The schedule of events is as follows:
4 p.m. – Doors open and DJ. Kevin James takes the stage
4:30 p.m. – Armed forces tribute
5 p.m. – Magic show
6 p.m. – Whole hog barbecue and concessions open
7 p.m. – Last Chance Band and magic show
8 p.m. – DJ. Kevin James and Last Chance Band
9:30 p.m. – Armed forces tribute and National Anthem
10 p.m. – Fireworks
Additionally, the Airway Heights Veterans of Foreign Wars Horton-Strength-Gale Post 3386 is requesting help with staffing their Fireworks stand located at 11515 W. Sunset Highway (Stimson builders).
"We need help July 2, 3, and 4 from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Please let Commander Mary Crofoot know or stop by the post to sign up for a shift," a representative wrote.
