SPOKANE COUNTY – A woman was hit by a car and fatally injured just before 4:30 p.m. on June 11.
The collision happened near the intersection of S. Palouse Highway and S. Baltimore Road, and caused a road closure of several hours while the scene was investigated.
Reports show a man was driving a Subaru Impreza, traveling south on Palouse Highway when the pedestrian tried crossing the highway.
The driver struck the pedestrian and the woman was pronounced dead at the scene despite the lifesaving efforts of first responders from Spokane County Fire District 8.
Investigators do not believe speeding or impairment are factors at this time, and the driver is fully cooperating according to reports.
The name along with the cause and manner of death of the pedestrian will be released by the Spokane County medical Examiner’s Office when deemed appropriate.
