CHENEY — The city Public Works Department has recommended passing Resolution F-149 to award a contract of $7,724,700.00 to Clearwater Construction and Management for the final system treatment project for Purple Pipe Project on May 19.
Bidding for the final system treatment project for Purple Pipe Project, which opened on May 10, resulted in three bids with Clearwater Construction and Management coming in as the lowest responsible bidder.
The amount of the award to be considered is $7,724,700.00, which includes expenses required plus 5% contingencies and applicable taxes.
The contract in consideration involves construction at the city wastewater treatment and reclamation plant.
“This is Task No. 1, which includes the construction of a brand new building which would house an ultraviolet light and filtration system,” Todd Ableman, planning department, said.
This new treatment building will be located at the current water treatment facility at 119 Anderson Road.
“We’ve been procuring the instrumentation, such as the filters and the ultraviolet equipment, and now we are building the facility,” Ableman said.
Ableman said that this project will be relatively long at around eight months to one year in length. Ableman also does not expect any interruptions in water service during that time.
