Malden water line project underway

MALDEN - Main Street is reopen after the town's water project main lines were installed.

Mayor Dan Harwood explained the work.

"We are expanding our fire hydrant number around the town," he said, adding crews also are installing an additional water main.

Harwood noted that the mainline on Main Street and Broadway would connect to the city's new well.

Harwood stated that the Department of Commerce Public Works Board is funding the project.

"It's sorely needed," he said of the project, noting the city has added fire hydrants on the east, north, and south side of town.

He further said crews are working on annexing property on the east side of town, as well as another parcel.

Harwood added that the project is ongoing.

"We've completed one annexation and are starting an additional one," he said.
