Medical Lake boy raises $9,500

SPOKANE - A Medical Lake Middle School student is raising money for a charity.

Seventh-grader Mason DeBolt raised $9,500 for Wishing Star Foundation at the Junior Livestock Show in Spokane on May 10.

DeBolt showed two pigs and two steers, earning two blue ribbons.

He donated the proceeds from the sale of his pig "Oreo" to the Wishing Star Foundation.

Williamson named to honor roll

MEDICAL LAKE – A local woman has made the honor roll at Spokane Community Coillege for the winter 2023 quarter.

Waitlyn Williamson of Medical Lake made the honor roll, according to the colleg.

Honor roll students maintain a 3.0 grade-point average.

Book Club season ends May 23

CHENEY - The final Cheney Book Club meeting of this spring will take place May 23 at the Cheney branch library.

Beginning at 6:30 p.m., the club will discuss "The Life and Times of the Thunderbolt Kid" by Bill Bryson.

The club will resume meeting in September, club officials said, noting a new list of next seasons books will be available at the library in two weeks.
