CHENEY – The city will host a household hazardous waste collection day for residents on Saturday, may 13.
The event runs from 8 a.m. until noon at the city recycling center, 100 Anderson Road.
This is for disposal of household chemicals such as:
• Aerosol sprays
• Batteries
• Cleaners & disinfectants
• Degreasers
• Engine cleaners, brake fluid, automatic transmission fluid
• Fire extinguishers
• Glues
• Nail polish & remover
• Oil & filters
• Paints, paint thinners
• Perfumes & toiletries
• Pesticides, herbicides & insecticides
• Pool chemicals
• Propane (5 gallon cylinders and smaller)
• Rust removers

The local center does not usually accept these types of wastes, officials said.
Residents unable to dispose of items at that time can also visit the Spokane Waste-to-Energy Plant, 2900 S. Geiger Blvd. (Exit 276) throughout the year due to an interagency agreement with the city of Spokane.
