Goodwill opens; UPS on the way

AIRWAY HEIGHTS – Goodwill Industries of the Inland Northwest has opened a new store and a new United Parcel Service facility is planned for the near future.

And both facilities will have customer amenities as well as areas for internal operations.

The new Goodwill store opened at 8 a.m. Monday, May 8, at 9837 W. Flight Drive.

With the opening of the large facility, Goodwill closed its outlet store at 1406 E. Front Ave. and moved any merchandise to the new store.

But Goodwill isn't the only business bringing a new, large facility to town.

United Parcel Service is planning to open a new distribution center here later this year.

The new enter will be located at 9210 W. Harlan Lane, just off Interstate 90 near the Amazon fulfillment center.

The new, 96,000-square-foot UPS facility will include a warehouse and a customer service counter, officials said.

Records show UPS is planning $2.3 million in improvements for the facility in Douglas Legacy Park, the 127-acre industrial park south of Spokane International Airport.

Spokane County building permits show Walker Construction of Spokane and EthosEngery Field Services of Santa Fe Springs, Calif., as contractors on the project.
