FASTPITCH SOFTBALL:
Blackhawks close out regular season
Three more regular season Greater Spokane League games remained for Cheney fast pitch softball before playoffs.
Last week Cheney went 1-2, beating Ridgeline 14-4 and then losing to University and Mead, 5-0 and 9-5, respectively.
Leading hitters for the week were Mia Ashcroft (.417), Allie Halverson (.400), and Sedona Ericson (.400).
On the positive side, according to head coach Gary Blake, the two losses were by closer margins this time than when the two teams met in the first round.
“This week we play our final three games of the regular season and will be trying to generate some momentum heading into the post-season,” Blake wrote in an email.
The Blackhawks played at Central Valley, May 2 and were at Gonzaga Prep May 4 before wrapping things up May 5 at home vs. North Central. All games start at 4 p.m. Cheney and CV are locked in a tight race for third place in the GSL standings.
