CHENEY — The Cheney High School Blackhawk Band Parent Booster donated a 20-foot trailer to the high school band program, April 26.
The parent booster is a non-profit organization whose purpose is to ensure that the band program stays strong and well-supported within the Cheney School District.
All students, families, and staff members involved in these various performing ensembles are valuable assets to the Cheney community and School District.
Last year, the organization successfully purchased a semi-trailer to provide safe and reliable means to transport band equipment as well as to facilitate the continued success and growth of the band program.
At that time, the booster worked closely with the school district finance director to ensure that the new semi-trailer title was transferred to the school district and completely covered by CSD insurance. Through that process, the booster was advised that it would need to take the same steps to ensure the appropriate insurance coverage for this equipment as well.
The trailer was originally valued at approximately $11,000 and was acquired for $7,000 in 2008 from Westside Motorsports.
In a letter to the school board, read at the April 26 meeting, the Blackhawk Band Parent Booster donated the 20-foot 2008 TNT Cargo Trailer, referenced above, to the Cheney School District for use by the CHS Band Program.
