Eastern Washington honored Bruno Ortega

CHENEY - The 2023 season came to a close on April 23 for Eastern Washington men's tennis. The team hosted Weber State at the Jim Thorpe Fieldhouse, falling 6-1, in the final match of the season. Eastern finishes its season with a 4-13 overall record and 0-7 in conference. The Wildcats end the season 12-9 on the year and 5-2 in conference.

Prior to the match, Eastern honored senior Bruno Ortega as he played his final two matches for the Eagles.

Eastern opened winning two-of-three doubles matches to secure the first point of the match. Ortega and Drew Dillon were in control against Connor Kruger and William Zulch, winning 6-2. Brady Thomas and Erik Sarlvik partnered to earn a 6-4 win over Jordan Coutinho and Matteo Savio.

Weber St. then swept the singles matches to earn the victory. Ortega battled to end at the No. 5 spot against William Zulch, winning the first set 6-2. A back-and-forth battle in the second set went to Zulch, 7-5. Ortega fell short in third set, 3-10.
