CHENEY — Thousands of area children will hit parks and fields this Saturday, April 8, on the hunt for Easter eggs.
In Cheney, the Kiwanis will host the annual egg hunt in Salnave Park, 1015 Salnave Road.
The event begins at 11 a.m.. It is open to children ages 2-10.
Egg hunts are planned for surrounding areas, too.
Here’s a roundup of other Easter egg hunts in southern Spokane County:
Airway Heights — The city will host an egg hunt at 9 a.m. in Sunset Park, South Lawson Street. There will separate egg hunts for four age groups; 4 years and younger; 5 to 6; 7-8; 9-10, with special prizes for each group. This event is sponsored by Yokes Fresh Market.
Fairfield and Latah — The two communities will share an Easter community breakfast and egg hunt. The festivities begin with a free breakfast from 7:30-10 a.m. in the Community Center, 218 E. Main St., hosted by Fairfield Community Church. Breakfast includes ham or sausage, pancakes, scrambled eggs and fruit. After breakfast, the annual Easter egg hunt begins at 10:30 a.m. in Thiel Park, sponsored by the Fairfield Fire Fighter’s Association.
Marshall — Windsor Crossing apartments, 5303 W. John Gay Drive, hosts an egg hunt beginning at 11 a.m. Residents have to bring their own egg basket; arrive 10 minutes early. The event is by reservation only; call the manager’s office to make a reservation. Prizes are available for those who collect the most eggs.
Medical Lake — The Kiwanis Club is hosting an egg hunt at 11 a.m. in Medical Lake Waterfront Park. The hunt is open to children younger than 12. Candy and prizes are available.
There is also a paid Easter egg hunt and celebration taking place at Rusty Truck Ranch, 7412 S. Keene Road. The event has farm animals, vendors, a bouncy house and more.
Rosalia — The Rosalia Lions Club will host the annual hunt here at 11 a.m. in City Park on West Ninth Street. The event is open to children 12 and younger. Prior to the egg hunt, a fundraising breakfast for 4-H takes place from 9-11 a.m. at Rosalia Community Church, 214 S. Whitman Ave.
Spangle — The local egg hunt begins at noon at 115 N. Main St.
Sprague — The annual Sprague Chamber Easter Egg Hunt will take place at 10 a.m. at Sprague Elementary School on South F Street. The hunt is open to students in kindergarten to fourth-grade.A scavenger hunt for grades 6-12 is also planned. That begins with picking up a scavenger card ard at the Egg Hunt prize table at the intersection of Fifth and F streets at 10 a.m. There will also be an Easter Bazaar at the Community Hall at Third and C streett. It runs from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., hosted by Phoebe Wilcox.
Waverly — The town will host an Easter Egg hunt for local children in the town park on North Commercial Street, across from the fire station, at 10 a.m..
The Edwall community, southwest of Medical Lake, hosted its Easter egg hunt last Saturday..
