Woman killed in Spokane Casino construction incident remembered

SPOKANE – A worker killed on a construction site at Spokane Tribe Casino in Airway Heights was remembered during a vigil March 12.

Ana Vetter, 27, of Nine Mile Falls, was killed March 7 at the site of a new building at Spokane Tribe Casino, 14300 U.S. Highway 2.

She was a journeyman carpenter working on the casino expansion when a formwork collapsed, killing her. Nobody else was injured.

Spokane Tradeswomen hosted a downtown Spokane march. Participants marched with banners commemorating Vetter as a journeyman carpenter with Chapter No. 59.

Sandi Vetter, who identified herself as Anna Vetter's mother, said, "Thank you all for marching in honor of our dear daughter, Ana Vetter.

"Our hearts are breaking at the loss, but full of pride for all she accomplished and the lives she touched."
