Fairchild crews rescue snowmobiler

FAIRCHILD AIR FORCE BASE – The 36th Rescue Squadron completed their 708th rescue operation in an area around Schweitzer Mountain, Sandpoint, ID, on Jan. 3, according to a base press release.

An injured snowmobiler who had spent upwards of 18 hours outside in the 19-degree conditions, was rescued by two special-mission aviators along with paramedic Staff Sgt. Gina Harkness, according to the official press release.

“When I got to the ground, there was an amazing (civilian) team already there that had been taking care of the patient,” Harkness said. “They helped me load the patient and we hoisted them safely into the helicopter. I am just happy that we got the patient safely out of there and back to his family.”
