Cheney School district hires new IT Director

The district released the following statement on Jan. 13

CHENEY - Cheney Public Schools is pleased to announce, after a rigorous interview process which included stakeholders from throughout the district, that Mr. Ryan Spencer has been selected as the new Information Technology Director for Cheney Public Schools, pending School Board approval.

Mr. Spencer is currently the Network Administrator and Helpdesk Lead at the Ellensburg School District, a position that he has held for the last 6 years.

Prior to this experience Mr. Spencer served as a Systems Administrator and Network Engineer in the Central Washington University IT department. He has also worked as a Lead Service Desk Agent in the CWU IT department.

Mr. Spencer has been eager to take on new responsibilities and grow the capacity of the IT department in his current position with Ellensburg School District. He is a graduate of Central Washington University.

Mr. Spencer brings extensive experience and is eager to begin in Cheney Public Schools. “I’m incredibly excited about joining the Cheney School District and grateful for the opportunity to work with various teams to expand the current technology programs within the district,” said Mr. Spencer.

Mr. Spencer will serve as the first full time in district Director of Information Technology after years of a successful partnership with ESD 101 to provide leadership for our IT Services.
