The Cheney girls’ basketball team closed the book on one part of its season an opened a new one last week as the Greater Spokane League started the portion of the schedule that really counts.
The Blackhawks fell at Mt. Spokane 55-29 on Jan. 3 in the final non-league game and 48-38, Jan. 6 at Ferris for the start of GSL play.
Cheney was held to single digit scoring in every quarter and trailed 26-13 at the half. Macey Richards’ eight points and another six from Shauna Elliot paced an anemic Blackhawks’ offense against the Wildcats (1-0 GSL, 4-6 overall).
