Cheney athletes do well at Hanford, Freeman
Cheney wrestlers were busy over the last week with competition at the Hanford Winter Cup and Freeman Winter Classic.
In the Winter Cup, stages Dec. 28 and 29, Dalton Taylor placed third at 160 pounds and was the leading finisher in competition at the Hanford Winter Cup. Taylor won by decision over John Rendon (Sunnyside) 2-0.
Gauge Seubert placed fifth at 220 pounds, winning by fall over Hector Sanchez (Richland) in 1 minute, 51 seconds.
At 182 pounds, Trenton Moore placed sixth losing by a fall to Brendan Hughes (Mt. Spokane) in 2:42.
Joe Showalter (145) placed sixth dropping his final bout to Dayton Regan (Moses Lake) in a 2-1 decision.
Many of those same Blackhawk wrestlers also competed Dec. 30 in Freeman, and with even better results.
Seubert, now wrestling at 195 pounds, placed second, losing to Johnny Swartsel (Okanogan) by fall in 51 seconds.
Trenton Moore (182) was also runner-up after his loss by technical fall to Post Falls High School's Jose Laguna in 4:33.
Joe Showalter placed 3rd at 138 pounds topping Alex Austin (Post Falls) by fall in 2:07.
Taylor (160) was fourth losing 4-3 to Nolan Jeanneret (Chewelah).
Camron Bogle (126) placed sixth dropping his fifth-pace bout to Nathan Cochran (Freeman) 6-2.
Medical Lake has two placers at Hanford
Medical Lake traveled to Hanford and competed for two days with two placers at the Winter Cup, Dec. 28 and 29.
Abram Kane, a freshman at 106 pounds took sixth and sophomore Hudson Raulston was fifth at 120 in the competition that draws a lot of top-notch Central Washington teams.
