EWU women fall at home
Eastern Washington’s women’s basketball team lost both of its Reese Court games as the Eagles’ opened Big Sky Conference play.
The Eagles fell to Montana, 81-70 on Dec. 29 and Montana State, 92-84 Dec. 31.
Jaydia Martin led the team with 22 points against Montana State as the Bobcats built a 22-4 lead after the first 10 minutes, limiting the Eagles the 15.4 percent shooting.
Eastern would trim the lead down to 57-55 with 30 seconds left on an Aaliyah Alexander layup. MSU led 59-55 at the end of three. After being tied at 61, MSU would build its lead to nine points at 88-79 and 37 seconds to play. Jamie Loera was the other Eagle in double figures with 14 points.
The team had four in double figures for scoring vs. Montana, led by Jacinta Buckley’s 15. Jaleesa Lawrence scored 14 while Martin and Aaliyah Alexander each added 10.
Eastern, 0-2 (Big Sky) and 7-5 overall, is back on the road at Portland State Thursday, Jan. 5 and then plays Sacramento State on Saturday, Jan. 7.
