Business partners begin new metal forming venture

CHENEY – Brad Hemenway and Jeremy McSpaden open American Metal Forming at 10 W 1st St.

Business partners for nearly 23 years, the two Cheney residents began renting the space which they currently occupy in January of 2022, and by August they had purchased the lot and the building.

"We've worked together for a long time, but we owned separate roofing companies." When asked why they made the change from roofing to metal forming, the pair said that "A lot of people try to offer a similar service, but we want to perfect the process." McSpaden said that what distinguishes them the most is their ability to go anywhere, to any client's worksite, and machine metal framing to exact specification on site.

"With our specialized equipment, we are able to provide a greater value to our service area." Hemenway said. "This has been a major investment for us." He continued. "And as this business becomes more stable, I expect to transfer ownership of my roofing business to my son, who also lives here."

Travis Horner, a technician and machining expert on site, is "the man who knows how to run a metal shop." Hemenway said. "Getting him on board was like winning the lottery for us. He's really an amazing guy."
