Cardinals get closer but fall

MEDICAL LAKE – Medical Lake closed out the 2022 football season losing to Quincy 16-12 on a non-league crossover game rematch Nov. 4 at Holliday Field.

The teams met on Oct. 23, with Quincy winning 43-30.

The Cardinals finished the season 0-10 overall.

No other statistics or information was available at press time.

Hermiston explodes to topple Cheney

HERMISTON, Ore. – The Hermiston Bulldogs (4-6) quickly got breathing room by returning the second half kickoff 70 yards for a touchdown on the way to a 45-23 non-league crossover football game win over Cheney (3-7) on Nov. 4.

Leading 10-3 at the break, Hermiston would follow the TD return with a pair of touchdowns that propelled them to a 21-6 edge in the third quarter.

Jakeb Vallance led the Cheney offense with 188 yards passing and 41 rushing. Josh Bingham had two TDs on 6 receptions and 101 yards and Camden Collins had two catches receptions for 60 yards and a touchdown.

Defensively, Owen Scott and Tyler Ashcroft each had an interception.

“This senior class will be missed, they have provided a great example of hard work pays off,” Coach Bobby Byrd said.

Liberty runners compete at state

PASCO – A Liberty runner placed 10th overall in the girls B state cross country meet on Saturday, Nov. 5, at Sun Willows Golf Course.

Senior Angelia Widman finished the 5,000-meter course in 21:39.

She was the only girl to qualify for state for Liberty.

Meanwhile, two of her teammates were in the boys 2B division.

Sophomore Mitchell Hanegan finished 21st in a time of 17:59 and junior Marc Greenburg was 66th in 19:12.
