Officer Maria Fell plans to work in Cheney after training program concludes

CHENEY - Officer Maria Fell will soon complete her filed training program, and plans to afterward work for the Cheney police department.

Fell said “I am in the field training program. I completed the academy training back in 2021, and I was sworn in at Cheney PD back in July.”

After being sworn in, Maria was assigned to this field training program, and at its conclusion will be allowed to operate independently in Cheney police force.

“I wanted to work at the Cheney PD for a long time. I went to the academy in 2016 and worked with EWU for a while until I left in 2018. When we had our second child, I went to work at the Cheney municipal court and later applied to work at Cheney PD in April.” Fell said.

“What I really like about Cheney is that you can stay fairly busy and you can build rapport with the community members. You are handling calls, of course, but those relationships are still there.”

Upon being officially installed as an officer in the Cheney PD, maria will be happy to work with the residents of our city. “I mean, I could go buy groceries at a place one day, and take a report at that store the next day. I’m excited to see what’s to come.”
